2 more days to go

Augh! Brits everywhere! No, but its so nice! Everything going pretty well with only one or two last things to do, to my complete and utter surprise. Only one or two things left? What happened to the list?

And, the house even offering room to walk around and places for people to sit, and food in the cabinets! And no more poopy brown-tinted paint everywhere, which is the real victory.

Can't wait to see everyone else who is coming into town.

Very surreal feeling, but exciting.

Had an awesome conversation with Sam about art tonight, when we had a half hour to ourselves. Planning on educating him with Schaeffer, Rookmaaker, and various texts collected throughout the art school stint. Very exciting!

Now, time for bed. Haven't had this much trouble sleeping for excitement since at least 5 or 6 Christmas Eve's ago.

Highlight

In the midst of all the wedding planning, mother-in-law having major surgery, Christmas, generally pulling all the details together, one point shines on the horizon. It turns out Sam and I are taking our honeymoon to the Cotton Bowl. To watch his beloved Alabama against Texas Tech. Isn't it romantic? Roll Tide.

What Good is Sitting Alone in Your Room?

So, on Wednesday, Sam said he had a surprise for me which would take place Thursday evening (last night). I was muy excited. I thought he would maybe take me to see Walk the Line or maybe go to a play or maybe the Nutcracker! But, no! I was instructed to wear 'comfortable, tight-fitting clothing' so what could it be? Maybe he just wanted me to wear tight-fitting clothing. For some reason I thought maybe we would go indoor rock-climbing. Wrong again!

So, we get in the car around 8, drive out Highway 9, all the way to W 24th, turn back North, and stop at Modern Dance Arts. Oh boy! He signed us up for a dance class! After calling around some random dance schools in the phone book, Sam found one, asked about their classes and found that they were offering a Jazz class Thursday night at 8:30. Thinking this would have something to do with Jazz music, he thought that sounded fun, so we went. When I found out it was a Jazz class (knowing far too much about dance styles from the numerous dance competitions I have staffed) I kind of giggled, but didn't want to be too skeptical and a) hurt his feelings or b) jump to conclusions. I knew that I would have fun no matter what, cause I like dancing, but I didn't know how Sam would feel about it, since it was likely to involve cheezy pop music and/or 'jazz hands'. But, I underestimated him.

So, we go into the class, there are about 6 of us. A couple of college girls who have dance background, an adult lady, and a flaming boy musical-theater hopeful from Noble. So, about half the class was stretching exercises to music, with some Yoga moves and other things, which was fun. And the second half of the class we worked on a combination to the theme song from "Cabaret" including a) kicks, b) chairs, and c) exaggerated ending poses. And it was so fun! We both (well everybody in the class too) had such a fun time, and though it wasn't what Sam was expecting, he had a fun time too, and was really good! He goes on about not having rhythm, but I think he is being modest. So, we left an hour and a half later sweaty & laughing and excited about showing ChubChub our new moves.

Anyways, the moral of the story is, surprises are so great! And I think because they often don't turn out the way you expect. If I had known what he was planning, I would have tried to talk him out of it, thinking he wouldn't like it. But he did, and he had a great time too, and I appreciate him wanting us to do something that I specifically would like because "we can't spend all our time watching my rubbish sports teams," (approximate quote).

Maison Gatorade

The only classy way to drink Gatorade. One must experience the full neon-yellow bouquet.

Woo, snow outside! The fire is so delightful, though!
